Are you sure you are gluten-intolerant?

In the last few years, it became quite popular gluten-free diets to lose weight. But do they really work for you?

Let's ask your genes first!

Many of us have stopped eating gluten without being sure how our body metabolizes gluten.

A gluten-free diet is a good choice for someone with gluten-related disorders. But there is no evidence that it is also good for people who don't have these conditions!

Gluten is a general name for a protein present in wheat, rye, barley and spelt. It works like a "glue" holding the food together. That is why it’s often added to processed and packaged foods. So, candies, sauces, fast-foods and hot dogs are very likely to contain gluten!

Gluten is not bad for your body...

... unless you are gluten intolerant!

By being gluten intolerant, your body will negatively respond to it! It will start showing reactions connected to celiac disease, wheat allergy and non-celiac gluten sensitivity.

In those cases, a gluten-free diet is recommended, since your body will produce an immune response when breaking down gluten during the digestion.

You’ll have to seek out naturally gluten-free food groups. These include fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, seafood, dairy, beans, legumes and nuts. Buckwheat, millet and maize are also gluten-free. Avoiding highly processed foods is a smart move!

Genetically speaking…

More than 95% of patients with celiac disease have mutations present in the genes DQA1 and DQB1. The DNA test NutriFit can tell you if you have a risk to be gluten intolerant by taking a close look at your genes! Discover now!
