Hi, can we help you? We hope you’ll find the answers to the most commonly asked questions.
While we are more than 99.9% similar in our genetic makeup, there is approximately 0.1% of DNA which makes us unique. Changes in the sequence of nucleotides, also called polymorphisms, can cause differences in the character or amount of protein encoded by a given gene. This is reflected in many characteristics, such as eye colour, muscle structure, body height, body weight, metabolism of caffeine, lactose, fats and carbohydrates, needs for vitamins, etc.
In principle, all genetic variants are normal, but some of them have virtually no impact while others have a significant impact on our metabolism or even the risk of developing various diseases.
Genetic variants or polymorphisms indicate a change on a certain location of the DNA, where two or more different alleles can be present. Two unrelated individuals can differ in about one hundred thousand to one million genetic variations, but most of these differences do not have a significant effect on physiology and nutritional needs.
When we talk about genetic variants, we usually use the term genotype – which simply refers to the exact state of the certain genetic variant. For instance, we say that someone’s genotype is GG or AA. The genotype is part of the genetic makeup which, together with the environment, forms the uniqueness of each one of us.
Genes are parts of our DNA sequence which carry information for the production of proteins. They are located in 23 pairs of human chromosomes. Chromosomes appear in pairs: one comes from the mother and the other from the father. Thus, every person has two copies of each gene (with the exception of sex chromosomes in males).
One variant from a given gene is called an allele. The two alleles can be identical or different. We all have the same genes, it is just that some people have different versions (variations in DNA sequence).
Genetics is a scientific field that deals with genes – their molecular structure and function, their expression and occurrence in populations, connected to heredity and the study of the relationship among organisms.
Who and what we are is largely determined by our DNA. The DNA is essentially present in the nucleus (core) of every cell of our body. It determines our appearance, how we respond to environmental factors (e.g. sunlight, nutrients, physical activities…) and to a certain extent our behaviour too. Our DNA is unique – comparable to a fingerprint. In the whole world, no two persons have an identical DNA (except identical twins).
Besides your personal genetic makeup, your NutriFit personalised genetic profile test uses the information about your age, gender, weight and height.
With each analysis, you’ll get easy and quick access to the analysed field to scientific research used.
Your personal genotype of a specific gene or the combination of genotypes determines your result within the analysis.
For a better understanding, your results are presented in a colour scheme.
The personalised dietary and lifestyle recommendations and guidelines are carefully prepared and give you information on how to improve your nutrition and lifestyle.
The recommendations are based on the principles of a healthy diet. All information is structured in the most convenient and user-friendly way in order to make recommendations easy to follow or act on.
We advise you to act based on your recommendations, as they consider the needs of your body determined by your genes, having a large influence on your current state and well-being.
In some cases, we will show you the comparisons of your personal results to the average population and the proportion of heritability indicating the extent to which the formation of certain properties is affected by your genes and by the environment.
The bigger the heritability is, the greater the influence our genes have and the lower influence the environment has.
Most analyses also contain a table with additional information to improve transparency even more.
The last pages of your NutriFit report consist of nutrition charts, which will help you to follow our recommendations. Nearly 200 different foods are accompanied with information about each food products calorie value content of cholesterol, nutrients, minerals and vitamins, helping you build a suitable diet plan.

Our genes are certainly an important parameter. However, lifestyle, sport, nutrition and many other factors influence our body. Having performed the DNA diet test NutriFit helps us to make appropriate changes.
A nutrigenetic analysis is the branch of genetics that analyses how our bodies handle nutrients and can be used to create an individually tailored diet and lifestyle plan based on individual predispositions.
Some people are more susceptible to become overweight or they metabolise certain substances or nutrients poorly, for example, caffeine, nicotine or alcohol. Knowing this kind of information enables us to better understand our specific needs and act accordingly. If we know our DNA, we can turn this information to our advantage and adjust our diet and lifestyle to positively affect our health and well-being.
Nutrigenetics is a scientific discipline that studies genetic variants in our DNA and evaluates their impact on our metabolism and body characteristics, which influence our nutritional needs. Nutrigenetics focuses on the analysis of genetic variants that can be controlled with diet and lifestyle changes. Because each one of us has a different genetic makeup, our nutritional needs are also specific and unique.
Rarely, but nonetheless, it happens that the DNA sample does not fulfil quality criteria and is not able to perform the genotyping for several important markers. This means that the detected signal is of such low quality, that it is not possible to claim with 100% certainty what the result is. In that case, you’ll be asked to collect a new saliva sample.
The whole process iscarefully plannedand the likelihoodthatthe sample islost is almostzero. However, should this still happen, then you’ll be askedto provide a newDNAsample, free of charge.
The sample can be exposed to external factors such as inappropriate temperatures and improper handling of shipment. The collector is made of hard plastic and stored in an envelope padded with bubbles, so it is unlikely that any damage would occur. In the unfortunate case that the buccal swab containing the sample gets damaged in transit, we will send you another one.
The sample is stable for up to 3 months at room temperature. The older the sample, however, the lower the chances are of a successful analysis. This is something worth keeping in mind.
The registration of your DNA test kit can still be done after sending the buccal swab. The registration code and security code are written on the flyer together with the instructions for online registration. However, while online registration is not performed, the sample will not be analysed. If you have any difficulties regarding kit registration, you can always contact our support team who will gladly assist you.
Place the swab back in the original plastic tube, pack it in the enclosed pre-addressed and pre-paid envelope and send it by post to GenePlanet. Once received at GenePlanet, our technicians will take care that the DNA sample is properly stored and dispatched to the laboratory.
Just go to this address (https://my.geneplanet.com/claimkit/) and complete the form. Registering your DNA test kit will link the DNA sample to an identification code so we know to whom the sample belongs. Without the registration, we cannot start the DNA health analysis procedure. After registration, you’ll be informed regarding the progress of the DNA genetic testing. Once ready, the results will be available in your personal account that can only be accessed using your personal login and password.
The DNA test kit contains a buccal swab, instructions for online registration, instructions for use and a pre-paid and pre-addressed envelope. Before collecting the sample it’s necessary to carefully read the instructions that are placed inside the box.
You need to be at least 18 years old if you want to order a NutriFit DNA test kit. At the same time, you are responsible to check whether your country permits you to order and perform genetic analysis and you agree to indemnify us in respect to all loss or damage suffered if decide to order it and your country does not allow that.
Yes, you can buy as many NutriFit DNA test kits as you like. As every test kit will be in an individual box, you can give them away as gift to family or anyone you like. A user who has his/her genetic analysis performed then registers his/her own kit on our webpage.
