GenePlanet, one of the leading genetics companies in Europe, has been awarded as the Exporter of the Year 2018, a recognition by the public agency Spirit Slovenia. GenePlanet was chosen among 133 Slovenian companies and has been ranked with 99 out of 100 points according to Bisnode Success Index – an indicator of performance. This score places GenePlanet among the most successful Slovenian companies.
For SPIRIT Slovenia, the methodology for selecting the Export of the Year 2018 was based on indicators from the last three years in fields as financial performance, business efficiency, international business, employee’s motivation, innovation and proactivity in international markets. “GenePlanet is a stable company with a high added value which is almost 30% above the Slovenian average of its industry, increasing employment and expanding its presence in international markets”, SPIRIT stated.
GenePlanet was established in 2008 in Slovenia by Marko Bitenc. After 10 years, it is already present in more than 30 markets worldwide and it is expanding to Asia by establishing a regional hub in Singapore in 2019. Africa is also in the plans for future expansion.
According to Bitenc, from the very beginning, the company has been international-oriented. It employs professionals from more than 15 different nationalities (Russia, China, Brazil, Scotland, Greece, etc.) that together speak more than 20 languages, making it a truly multicultural environment.
